How it works
Tell us about the job
Say what needs scaffolding, the postcode, and whether the scaffold would stand on your land, a pavement or a road.
We check who covers you
If a local scaffolder covers your postcode, and you have agreed, we pass your enquiry to that one business only.
You agree the details with them
If your enquiry is passed on, the scaffolder contacts you about the job and you agree everything with them directly.

Useful to know before you enquire
Useful to have to hand
None of this is needed to send an enquiry, but it helps the scaffolder picture the job sooner.
- What the scaffold is for
Roof or chimney work, gutters, painting, windows or a building project, and which sides of the building it needs to reach.
- Roughly how high
The number of storeys, or whether it needs to reach the gutters, the ridge or the top of a chimney.
- What is at the foot of the wall
A drive, a garden, a neighbour’s land or a public pavement. Scaffolding on a pavement or road usually needs a council licence, which the scaffolder can talk you through.
- When, and for how long
When the work is due to start and roughly how many weeks the scaffold will need to stay up.

Questions
What is Broxbourne Scaffolding?
An independent enquiry service. We are not a scaffolding company and we do not put up scaffolds. You describe the job, and with your consent we pass your enquiry to a local scaffolder, if one covers your postcode.
What if nobody covers my postcode?
We tell you, and we do not pass your details on to anyone. You will not be asked to do anything further, and you are free to look elsewhere.
Who sorts out the licence if the scaffold goes on the pavement or road?
If a scaffold stands on a public pavement or road, a licence is normally needed. In Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Cheshunt and Waltham Cross you apply to Broxbourne Borough Council, elsewhere in Hertfordshire to Hertfordshire County Council, and in Enfield to the London Borough of Enfield, or to Transport for London on a red route. The scaffolder usually applies for it, so raise it when you first talk to them.
Do I need to speak to my neighbours?
If the scaffold needs to stand on, or reach over, a neighbour's land, you need their agreement first. It is polite to tell neighbours before the job starts even when it does not, because poles, boards and deliveries can make a street busier for a while.
Is it free to send an enquiry?
Yes. Sending an enquiry costs nothing and you are not committed to going ahead. Any price for the job is agreed between you and the scaffolder.
